Sport

We are unique as a day school in being able to offer so much sport to our children. Sport takes place in five lessons of the week for children from Year 3 onwards in the form of PE or Games. Competitive fixtures against other schools will also take place in this time. Those younger than this are prepared for the sports they will play competitively from Year 3 in three or four sport lessons during the week.

Football, rugby and cricket are the major games for boys in the three terms, with our girls playing netball, football and rounders. Pupils from Year 3 have the opportunity to swim and in both in-house and external competitions. Basketball also features strongly on the Games front and our grounds have been mapped out for us to complete various orienteering courses. Our Athletics and Cross-Country teams from U9 – U13 have been successful of late and we look forward to that continuing. We have six golf holes situated within the school grounds, along with six driving range mats. Golf is played all-year round in Activities with matches and competitions taking place in the summer term.

Our sport is based around a competitive fixture list with local schools, with matches played on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Weekend commitments are deliberately small as we encourage our sportsmen and women to play outside school in clubs.

Coaching is provided both from our own staff and professional sports coaches and there is an opportunity for every child to represent the school a number of times during every term.
