The Headmaster

I came to Westbrook Hay in the late 90's, via Pangbourne College, where I was a housemaster and previously from Lambrook and Salisbury Cathedral school, where I had my first experiences of life as a Prep school teacher.

What struck me immediately about this school is the wonderful opportunity that it affords every pupil – the true sense of community, in which pupils, parents and staff work together to strive for the best that we can all achieve. My children were educated here and seem relatively unscathed by the experience of having their father as Headmaster. I await the first child of someone I have actually taught here, but given a fair wind and the continuing enthusiasm for the challenges that make daily life interesting, even that landmark may be reached.

Away from the chalkface, with the passage of time and the ravages of a youthful sporting career, cricket and rugby have given way to golf and the desire to play off scratch - although time is running out for that as well ! There will always be time for fishing and the Deputy Head and I can sometimes be found on the river bank, deep in discussion of the educational policy of the time (!) as we await those elusive big fish.

It is a testimony to the time I have been here that the only photos that could be found of me are a gentle reminder of my youth...long may that continue!
