Dr Hannah Lewington

Head of Music and Year 7 Form Teacher

Dr Hannah Lewington was born in Bucks and studied at the universities of Durham, Belfast and Buckingham. She worked in a variety of musical jobs around the UK – academia, concert management, marketing, graphic design, arts administration and as a peripatetic woodwind teacher – before training as a class teacher. For the last 5 years she has taught in Essex, where she devised composition projects, accompanied rehearsals and led the Safeguarding team and History curriculum.
Dr Lewington spends her spare time practising lots of instruments (flute, recorder, viola, piano) but also enjoys being outside, mostly wrestling with her climbing roses, or taking chunks out of long-distance footpaths. She has two teenage daughters who keep her up to date with all the latest musicals and movies, and a 5 year old nephew who enjoys singing along to everything from Paw Patrol to the James Bond theme.
“From the moment I started my first visit to Westbrook Hay I could see and feel that it was an exceptionally happy place, full of fun with engaging challenges and activities. I’m really excited to join the team and start making music with all the children and the wider school community!”
