Tuesday the 26th was a very special day in Westbrook Hay’s calendar as the Years 5-8 welcomed Neal Nichols Jr., the creator and host of The Geography Gameshow, all the way from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in the United States of America.
Mr Ndau has been keen to secure Neal for several years to share his enthusiasm with our pupils. As a child, drawing was Neal’s favourite hobby, and although he had no lessons, he self-taught in all aspects of visual creativity and clearly has a photographic memory.
We were very proud of our pupils who were clearly captivated by Neal’s Gameshow and when asked to participate, they were very keen to show off their geographical knowledge. Neal drew, freehand, a map of the world and then asked the children questions, testing their knowledge. It was a dynamic and fascinating way to learn more about the geography of the world. Many of the children came away with competition prizes that Neal had collected from his travels.
