Senior Pupils' Trip to Italy

Senior Pupils Trip to Italy

On Monday 24th March, 47 Years 7-8 pupils and five staff flew out to Rome for a week of immersing themselves in architecture, art, history, religion and Italian culture! For our top academics, this exciting excursion was a chance to further fuel their intellectual curiosity. For our kinaesthetic learners, this overseas trip was an opportunity to tread in the footsteps of Romans past and present, experiencing first-hand some of the most iconic buildings and sites of the ancient world.

We extensively explored and were guided by local historians around the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Pantheon, Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Navona, Roman Forum, Sistine Chapel, Spanish Steps, St. Peter's Basilica, Trevi Fountain and Vatican Museum. On Thursday we transferred to the second part of our historical pilgrimage, visiting Vesuvius, Sorrento and Pompeii before flying back to London on Friday.

In between, there was plenty of excellent food eaten, including a running competition for the best value gelato and pizza! There were plenty of opportunities for independence, with pupils allowed to wander quieter streets and piazzas at their own pace, with an agreed meeting time and location. For those still with energy, there were optional evening walks and some managed to clock 80 kilometers by the end of the trip!

For the Seniors, this is just the start, there are a number of exciting excursions planned to complement the subjects studied at GCSE! A huge thanks to the staff for organising and accompanying, as well as to the pupils for their superb behaviour and fine company.
