Last Friday, Year 2 went on an exciting trip to London to visit St Paul’s Cathedral as part of their Great Fire of London topic.
The adventure began with a walk across the fields to meet the coach. Buzzing with excitement, the children headed into London, which gave them a chance to experience the energy of the Capital and see a very different environment from their usual surroundings.
At the Cathedral, the children explored the amazing building, learned about how the original cathedral was destroyed in the Great Fire and why its rebuilding was so important. Showing great determination, they climbed all 376 steps past the Whispering Gallery to reach the Stone Gallery. From the top, they spotted some of London’s most famous landmarks, even through the grey skies!
The trip was a brilliant way to bring learning to life outside the classroom, making history exciting and memorable for everyone.
