Year 7 pupils have enjoyed a STEM day challenge! The scene is set: they are stranded on a desert island. How will they survive? Our senior children participate in Pre-Senior Baccalaureate, which has at its heart the development of the right values, skills, attitudes and behaviours required for children to flourish. With this in mind, what better way to understand what is at the heart of the PSB than working together to survive on a desert island? .jpg)
The children worked in groups to filter clean drinking water, build shelters and find food. The survival rations were not universally liked, but the math skills to understand the calories required to survive were brilliantly showcased! Combining the PSB skills with their STEM knowledge, the day was a great success.
This has been a great example of how Westbrook Hay develops not just what we learn but the way we learn!
