On Thursday Years 5-8 came together to participate in the House Debating finals. Over the past week pupils have been writing speeches to either support or oppose the motion for our final: This House believes that green is better than yellow. Each House fielded a debating team of four pupils who each gave a 3-minute speech either proposing or opposing the debate motion. All other pupils had the opportunity to do a short 'floor speech' contributing to their House effort. There were some brilliantly crafted opening statements from both sides, that built very persuasive arguments. Each team respectfully challenged ideas and constructed logical, well-structured responses.
This year teams from Wyvern (green) were announced as the winners, narrowly beating Phoenix (yellow) to top spot. Well done to every who participated.
