Awards Assembly: Positions of Responsibility Announced at Today's Assembly

In an eagerly anticipated event at Westbrook Hay, the first Awards Assembly of the school year took place today, marking the beginning of a new academic year with a strong emphasis on leadership and responsibility. The assembly hall was abuzz with excitement as positions of responsibility were officially announced, recognising the outstanding qualities of pupils who have shown dedication to the school's values.

The following children have been appointed as Head of Houses, leading their respective house teams: Max for Dragon, James for Griffin, Susannah for Phoenix, and Anna for Wyvern. These young leaders will play pivotal roles in fostering a sense of camaraderie and competition within the school.

In the realm of sports, the school proudly introduced its new captains. Zac will lead the U13 Football team, Albie will captain the U11 Boys Football team, and Alice will take charge of the U11 Girls Football team, promising an exciting season ahead.

Promoting pupil involvement and voice, the Pupil Voice Committees were also announced. Jonah will spearhead the Eco Warriors, Max will champion the Charities committee, and Amelie will take the helm of the School Council. These committees play crucial roles in shaping the school's initiatives and fostering a sense of community engagement.

The coveted positions of Head Pupil and Deputy Head Pupil have been awarded to Jonathan and Connor, respectively. Their striking new gold and red ties were noted by all and serves as symbols of their leadership roles within the school.

During the assembly, the Leadership & Responsibility Programme was explained to the children, emphasising the school values that are required for these important roles. They were encouraged to realise their potential as leaders and to actively contribute to the school community.

The assembly also extended a warm welcome to the Year 3 classes and all the new pupils who joined this year, emphasising the idea that the more pupils contribute to school life, the more they will gain from it. The Year 8 children were acknowledged for their dedication, having submitted CVs and letters of application for the positions they desired.

Furthermore, it was announced that prefect awards would be presented throughout the year to Year 8 pupils who consistently demonstrate the school's values and dedication to their roles.

Inclusivity was also a key theme, with Years 6 and 7 children invited to sign up for various committees if they wish to contribute to the school's initiatives. The assembly concluded with the promise of upcoming Junior Prefect awards, motivating pupils to prepare for senior Year 8 responsibilities.

Westbrook Hay is proud to have such dedicated and enthusiastic leaders, and we look forward to witnessing their positive impact on the school community throughout the academic year. Congratulations to all the deserving children who have been appointed to these important positions of responsibility.
