As part of their Religious Studies on Buddhism our Year 4 children went to the Amaravati Buddhist monastery in Great Gaddesden today. This is a new trip for Westbrook Hay and it can be slightly nerve wracking whether the children will enjoy it and learn. We need not have worried, the children were animated throughout their visit. Learning how the monks live, being shown their cabins in the woods, the fact that they never watch TV and can only eat before midday created much discussion. The children had time for meditation and reflection in the temple with it’s incredible gold buddha.
Thank you to Rochurro for showing so much patience with our children and for such an enlightening tour.
