This week we hosted the annual schools’ x-country meeting, with around 250 athletes from the ages of 8 – 13 competing. On the day we enjoyed true x-country elements – rain, wind and mud! Our teams competed courageously and I was very proud of all their efforts.
Oli M got the ball rolling with a great run in the U9s, finishing 3rd, along with Will M (6th) and Felix S (14). Our U9 boys were our best performing team too, finishing 2nd overall. In the U11s Oli B led our team home in 12th with Sam G and Miles D-F close by. Particular kudos to Oli and Sam, being in the lower age of the category. Archie F led for the U13 race for some time but just got pipped in to 4th. There were also very good runs from James R and Alex K. These 3 boys were also some of the youngest in the race.
The girls were not to be outdone. Kallisti and Sophia W both finished strongly and were our first U9s home. Lillie W equally finished strongly gaining 5th place with the two Graces, L (11) and M (16), close by.
Everyone present was impressed with the quality of the running on show from the leaders but equally the determination of those further back in the field to finish as strongly as they could. Congratulations to all our athletes!
