Rafe had an impressive start at the East Region championships last weekend. Despite it being his first year qualifying, he clinched gold in the 50m breaststroke from lane 8, setting a massive personal best time of 38.73 seconds! This achievement puts him at the 10th fastest ranking in England in the 12-year-old category.
This weekend, the East Region swimming championships continued in Norwich. Rafe secured silver in the 50m butterfly, further improving his personal best time and placing him in the top 20 swimmers in England, for his age, for butterfly. He also took bronze in the 100m breaststroke, achieving yet another personal best. His focus, resilience, and determination were truly remarkable!
Considering the pressure of competing at the highest level for his age group, Rafe’s performance is outstanding. Only two swimmers from Berkhamsted made it to the finals, and Rafe’s three medals are an incredible accomplishment!
