The Green Travel Plan

The Green Travel Plan

Our Green Travel Plan started this week and what a success it has been so far! Our daily shuttle bus meets children and parents in a car park in Bourne End allowing the parents to go off to work without having to come up to the school. Our Waking Bus, which we are trialling on Tuesday and Thursday mornings meets at Little Hay off Box Lane. Parents can drop the children off with Mr Ross and Mr Ndau who guide the children through the pathways to Westbrook Hay. Josh drives the school buggy carrying the children’s bags – What service! Our three mini bus routes, from St Albans, Berkhamsted and Kings Langley are very popular, and we encourage our parents to look at the possibility of using the school buses whenever possible. Once the restrictions allow, we will be introducing the lift share initiative. Just this trial alone has reduced the number of car journeys up and down the school drive by 169 in a week. The Green Travel Plan is just a small part of our campaign to improve the carbon footprint of the school. Mr Ndau is leading our Eco Warriors to review all parts of school life and discover ways of becoming a greener environment.
