On Saturday the Colts A squad travelled to Watford to play against the best schools in the area in the county finals. We started excellently, playing some super football. We moved the ball quickly and looked really sharp. Malachi and Sam, at the back, were outstanding and Harry was bossing the midfield as we overran the first three teams we played. We couldn’t keep to the standards we had set early on and possibly overplayed in our own half but showed character after losing the 5th game, to win the last game in the league in order to finish top. By this stage, the sun had gone and the heavens had opened! The boys were soaked; it’s at these times you feel sorry for goalkeepers and Will M, who had played so well in goal, was wet, cold and injured. Not a great mix! Added to that, this was just before the final, where we faced St Mary’s from Rickmansworth, and I was a little worried!
Along with the others he showed great character, as we controlled the game and scored just before half time through a great strike by Harry. Henry notched a second after half time and we saw the game out to emulate the success of the Colts As of 2014, the last team of ours to win this tournament.
We move on to the South East Tournament next term. Well done to all the boys!
