Westbrook Hay Swimmers Shine at Herts County Championships
Three swimmers from Westbrook Hay, swimming for Berkhamsted Swimming Club, have made a splash at the Herts 2024 County Championships, held over the last two weekends. Emily, Rafe, and Sam all achieved personal bests in every heat and final they competed in, and also won medals and accolades.
Emily qualified for six events and reached four finals, where she narrowly missed out on a podium finish, placing fourth twice, fifth once, and sixth once. She also had a memorable walk-on for one of her finals, which was captured on YouTube.
Rafe qualified for seven events and made it to five finals, where he claimed one gold, two silver, and two fourth-place medals. He also became the County Champion in the 50m Butterfly event, with an impressive performance.
Sam qualified for three events and advanced to three finals, where he secured one bronze and two fourth-place medals. He also impressed in the 50m Butterfly event, where he won the bronze medal.
All three swimmers performed exceptionally well and improved their rankings in the East Region. Rafe will represent the club at the East Regionals in May this year, while Emily and Sam are hopeful of qualifying for the Regionals in 2025.
