Y7 Trip to Hastings

Y7 Trip to Hastings

To support their study of Medieval history, our Year 7 pupils enjoyed a very informative trip to Kent, exploring historical events between 1066 and 1485.

On Monday, the group visited Canterbury Cathedral, the site of Archbishop Thomas Becket's murder.  The guide gave some wonderful feedback about the children - “This is one of the best groups ever to tour the Cathedral, asking such intelligent questions; I wish they could have stayed longer!”

On Tuesday, at the Hastings’ Battlefield where King Harold Godwinson faced Duke William of Normandy for the English throne, the pupils reenacted Norman battlefield charges.   This part of the trip is a real favourite for the children being able to relive the experiences of 1066.

Mr Baird was also delighted to receive more positive feedback about the group from the manager at the Holiday Inn who said that they were a delight to have.

This trip, so early on in the term, has proven to be a wonderful opportunity for a new group of pupils to bond.
