Year 6 Leavers Tree Planting Ceremony

Year 6 Leavers Tree Planting Ceremony

Our Year 6 leavers have left a sustainable mark by planting their very own tree!

We were proud to have Maddie & Abbie, our longest-serving pupils, represent Year 6 in this special planting ceremony. It's a tradition for our leavers to plant a tree each year, creating a lasting memory of their time here at Westbrook Hay.

This year, our chosen tree is the Liquidambar, scientifically known as Liquidambar styraciflua or the sweet gum tree. This deciduous beauty can reach an impressive height of 20 meters, with a broad conical shape and glossy, maple-like leaves. As autumn approaches, and our leavers are settled into their senior schools, the leaves will transform into stunning shades of orange, crimson, and purple.

This initiative aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint. By planting these trees, we're not only preserving the environment but also leaving a part of ourselves behind for future generations to enjoy.
