What a performance from our U11 A Footballers!

What a performance from our U11 A Footballers!

Our U11 A girls' football side was the first of our sports teams to see a return to competitive action since the start of the pandemic as they travelled to Forest School in London for the ISFA regional tournament. Schools were placed into 2 groups and even though we had travelled an hour to the event, our first game was against local opposition in the form of York House. A tight game, in which we were a little tentative, saw us share the spoils but that proved to be us just warming up as a goal from Rebecca, who was looking dangerous in attack, saw us beat Thomas's Clapham in what was a fine performance. Freya and Rebecca both got on the scoresheet in a 3-0 victory over Chigwell next and we then drew our final group game. By this point, we were through to the semi finals and Harriet was catching the eye with some outstanding saves. Even a broken finger was not stopping her! Chloe was proving to be a rock at the back with Freya a dominant force in central midfield. With Millie also linking up well as a striker, our strong spine had led to us not conceding a goal so far. Naiya and Zoe were showing great skills on the wings while Phoebe and Tabi, the young guns of the team, were growing into the tournament and making important contributions. The semi-final saw us matched up with Brentwood, Frank Lampard's old school. We worked exceptionally hard but a fine strike from the opposition saw us defeated 1-0 by the eventual champions. The girls can be extremely proud of their performances (I certainly was!) in what was a cracking afternoon of football! Well done!
