Study Skills

The department provides support for particular areas of the curriculum that are proving to be a problem for the child. The support may last for a few weeks or for a longer time depending on the problem. Our aim is to help children close the gap that has opened up and achieve as close to his/her potential as is possible.

The lessons are on a one to one with a member of staff who is experienced in supporting children in this way and all the specialist teachers in the department have the qualifications necessary to teach children with a learning difficulty. The children will be withdrawn from class for their lessons and support is not offered in class. Areas covered are support for dyslexia, dyspraxia, EAL, study skills, and maths support.
